$200 Billion a Year to Put Families First
Have you been following the presidential debates? We have and it’s been frustrating. While politicians tout their talking points, families toil harder than ever to be given less than before and these families deserve more. These families are ready for real solutions.
It’s time to tell 2016 Presidential candidates: “We want action, not rhetoric. What will you do to reinvest in our communities that need it most by putting families first?”
This is the solution: we need to guarantee good wages and benefits and create new jobs that allow Americans to sustain their families. We are calling for a 21st-century jobs program that invests at least $200 billion a year to create millions of good jobs for the communities that have suffered decades of disinvestment and racial bias.
Only with bold and targeted investments, can our families have a real chance of overcoming the systemic barriers that discriminate on the basis of race, gender, and region.
These jobs can focus on meeting America’s needs for infrastructure, education, childcare and a clean energy future funded by taxing wealth and redirecting money from our broken criminal justice system.
